From November 17th to 21st, the Republic of Korea Cyber Operations Command and the United States Cyber Command will conduct the ‘Korea-US Cyber Alliance’ exercise at the U.S. National Cyber Range located in Maryland, USA (FANX, Friendship Annex).

This exercise is the second bilateral cyber training between Korea and the US, following the initial exercise conducted last year when the US Cyber Command visited the Korean Cyber Operations Command training ground.

The Cyber Alliance exercise was organized following the agreement at the 54th Korea-US Security Consultative Meeting (SCM) held in November 2022, to strengthen the joint response posture of Korea and the US against enemy cyber threats.

Cyber personnel from the two countries will use this exercise to quickly share threat information and master joint operational procedures in response to simulated cyber threat scenarios.

Woo-Hee Cho, Commander of the Korean Cyber Operations Command (Army Major General), stated, “This exercise is a valuable opportunity to strengthen the cooperation system and develop operational capabilities with the US Cyber Command, which possesses world-class cyber operation capabilities.” He added, “We will enhance our capabilities to ensure victory in cyber warfare, the core area of future battlefields.”

Both Korea and the US plan to continue expanding defense cyber cooperation through not only Cyber Alliance exercises but also the sharing of cyber threat information, joint participation in multinational cyber exercises, and the exchange of cyber experts and technology.
