The international relief and development NGO World Share announced on the 30th that it is starting the ‘School is the only hope for Languna’ campaign to continue the education of Maasai children in Kenya.
This campaign was planned based on the story of a 12-year-old boy, Languna, whom goodwill ambassador Yoo Sun recently met on the scene in Kenya. Growing up in a Maasai Mara village, Languna walks two hours round trip to attend school every day and helps with household chores like fetching water and collecting firewood. He dreams of becoming a lawyer to protect his family.
Through this campaign, World Share plans to support students at the ‘Marashirei Academy’ in the Maasai Mara area with school supplies, educational programs, tuition fees, and intends to improve the poor educational environment.
Goodwill ambassador Yoo Sun said, “My heart ached watching Languna live resiliently in an environment without clean water or electricity,” and added, “I hope to convey warm hope so that children can nurture dreams even in such conditions.”

Park Hyunkyung, a senior at World Share’s online communication team, stated, “We keenly felt on site that preserving educational opportunities extends beyond mere support but is our responsibility,” and vowed, “We will do our best to ensure children can continue learning until the end.”
This campaign to support overseas child education by World Share can be participated in through the World Share website.
Meanwhile, World Share operates child-centered regional development projects such as group homes, overseas child sponsorships, education, health, and humanitarian support in about 20 countries worldwide. As an international relief and development NGO which has obtained the Special Consultative Status from the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC), World Share is actively involved in child sponsorship, educational support, water hygiene, medical health, and emergency relief projects.
