Seoul’s Yeongdeungpo-gu has announced that on the 21st, it will host the opening ceremony of the newly built ‘Yanghwa Dog Playground’ and a ‘Walk with Dogs Competition’ under the Yanghwa Bridge by the children’s traffic safety experience center.

This event is organized as a festival for residents and their dogs to enjoy together, with around 200 residents and 100 dogs expected to participate.

On the 21st at 5 PM, the official opening ceremony, including a plaque hanging and ribbon cutting, will be held. Following this, a 1km walking competition with dogs will take place. The walking competition will enroll 30 households on a first-come, first-served basis on the spot, along with pre-registered households.

The event venue will feature various booths such as pet health check-ups, emergency CPR training, hygiene grooming, pet tarot reading, and caricature experiences, allowing not only pet owners but also the general public to participate.

The dog playground is currently open for trial operations from 9 AM to 6 PM. It is available for use by registered dogs and their guardians, and from the official opening day, it will be open 24 hours a day.

The playground is equipped with separate spaces for large dogs and small to medium dogs, as well as benches, hurdles, water fountains, and urination facilities. Users must bring their own waste bags and leashes, and entry is restricted for ferocious, unregistered, and aggressive dogs.

Choi Ho-kwon, the head of Yeongdeungpo-gu Office, stated, “Yanghwa Dog Playground will become a precious space where dogs and guardians can enjoy together in the city,” and added, “We will continue to create a culture where people and pets coexist.”
