Dongdaemun District Holds ’26th Social Welfare Day Commemorative Ceremony’

Seoul Dongdaemun District announced that on the 8th, the Dongdaemun District Social Welfare Council (Chairman Park Sang-jong) held the ’26th Social Welfare Day Commemorative Ceremony’ in the auditorium on the 2nd floor of the district office.

This event was held to commemorate Social Welfare Day on September 7th, to console the dedication of workers in the field of social welfare, and to encourage contributions to the development of the local community. About 500 people, including social welfare workers, attended the event.

Particularly this year, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Dongdaemun District Social Welfare Council, there was a time to reflect on the footsteps taken for the enhancement of local welfare and to share future visions.

During the commemorative ceremony, comedian Lee Hong-ryeol conducted a special lecture titled ‘Sharing, Happiness, and a Joyful Life’, receiving great responses with warm humor and sincere messages.

Additionally, awards were given to 71 social welfare workers who have continued their volunteer work and dedication in the community. The awards included 16 district office commendations, 33 appreciation plaques, 5 parliamentary commendations, 6 council chairman commendations, 3 Seoul Social Welfare Council chairman commendations, 3 Seoul Social Workers Association chairman commendations, and 5 Dongdaemun District Social Welfare Council chairman commendations.

Lee Pil-hyeong, Chief of Dongdaemun District, expressed in a congratulatory speech, “Through this event, I hope to revisit the value of social welfare and that the culture of sharing and coexistence will spread throughout the community,” and added, “Let’s continue to collaborate between private and public sectors to create a happy Dongdaemun District with no welfare blind spots.”
