The Seoul Welfare Foundation, Lotte Department Store, and Hope Friends Korea Food for the Hungry International have launched a support project for family caregiving adolescents and young adults. The aim of this project is to alleviate the economic difficulties and caregiving burdens of these youth by supporting essential areas such as livelihood, education, medical care, housing, and self-care.

The total support amount for this year is 270 million won, prioritizing assistance for the initial 46 selected individuals. The three organizations plan to operate the support system through close collaboration to improve the actual living conditions.

The Seoul Welfare Foundation held the ‘2025 Lotte Department Store × Korea Food for the Hungry International Family Caregiving Youth Support Project Award Ceremony’ at the Lotte Talent Development Center Seoul Campus on August 13. The ceremony was attended by 59 people, including the 46 primary support beneficiaries and business associates.

Following this ceremony, the Foundation, Lotte Department Store, and Hope Friends Korea Food for the Hungry International will continue to provide ongoing support to help family caregiving adolescents and young adults achieve independence and establish a foundation for self-care. Additionally, they will strive to raise awareness within the community about family caregiving youth and adolescents.

The second application period for the ‘2025 Lotte Department Store × Korea Food for the Hungry International Family Caregiving Youth Support Project’ is from August 29 to September 12. Applications can be received through the Seoul Welfare Portal after registration as a family caregiving young person.

Since last July, the Seoul Welfare Foundation has transitioned to a rolling application method for family caregiving youth support. This allows for medical, psychological, and financial services to be applied for and used continuously as needed.

Regular services can be requested through the Seoul Welfare Portal registration, and relevant information is also available on the Foundation’s Family Caregiving Youth Support Team Instagram.

Director Yoo Yeon-hee of the Seoul Welfare Foundation Social Service Support Center said, “We will create a foundation for teenage caregivers to manage their lives independently,” adding, “We will work with various organizations to provide stable living conditions.”
