Seoul’s Gangdong District announced on the 3rd that it conducted a psychology education program for parents of elementary school children on August 23 at the Children’s and Youth Future Headquarters. This program, prepared by the Future Headquarters for the first time, was designed to enhance understanding of childhood development and to help parents learn effective parenting methods.
An expert in clinical psychology participated on-site to explain the developmental characteristics and emotional needs of children in their elementary school years. They introduced methods for parents to communicate healthily with their children. The education program explored solutions to real-life issues such as excessive smartphone use and ADHD, gaining empathy from participants.

A total of 26 parents participated in the program. Simultaneously, their children enjoyed exhibitions and recreational activities outdoors, allowing parents to focus on the education without caregiving duties.
One parent stated, “It helped me understand my child’s mind better and served as an opportunity to reflect on my parenting attitude.”
Han Mi-jung, Director of the Children and Youth Department, said, “I hope this education has provided parents with a correct understanding of their children’s development and laid a foundation for positive growth for the children. We will continue to prepare programs that enable parents and children to grow together, creating an environment where children can grow up happily.”
Meanwhile, the Future Headquarters plans to continuously operate customized weekend programs for parents and children to enhance parental nurturing capabilities and support balanced growth for children.
