Seoul’s Jung-gu district announced on the 2nd that it will host a special lecture for parents titled “Parental Instincts: Seeing the Future,” to help parents contemplate their children’s career paths amidst rapidly changing job environments.

The lecture, organized by the Jung-gu Education Support Center, will be conducted every Wednesday evening at 7 p.m., lasting 90 minutes, from the 4th to the 25th. A total of four sessions will be provided for 50 parents.

The first lecture will take place on September 4th at the Eulji Nuri Center, where Dr. Ryu Je-taek, an expert in generative artificial intelligence, will introduce the competencies children need in the AI era. On the 11th, Nam Hye-jung, a former radio scriptwriter, will share insights on parental attitudes, based on her experiences in the broadcasting field. On the 18th, Kim Hyo-jin, head of Yonsei University’s Clinical Skills Education Center, will talk about her experiences as a nurse and methods for career expansion, while on the 25th, musical actor Noh Yoon will discuss career paths in the arts sector.

The lectures will be conducted in a free discussion format. Parents can attend with their children who are in the 5th grade or above, and a Q&A session will be provided after each lecture to clarify inquiries about various professions.

Among Jung-gu parents who complete all four lectures, 30 will be eligible to participate in an advanced program held on the 27th. This program comprises TCI temperament tests and group counseling, managed by counseling psychologist Kim Byung-gwan from the Maumbom Institute. The test results will be used to improve parent-child relationships. A college student volunteer group will run a child care program to enable parents to focus on counseling.

A Jung-gu official stated, “This special lecture was prepared to help parents understand the world of work and contemplate their children’s future with them. We hope parents gain new insights through meetings with experts and share empathy through conversations with their children.”
