The Korea National Arboretum (Director Lim Young-seok) announced that it will operate an experiential education program called “Weekend at the Arboretum” for weekend visitors from September 6 to November 2.
This program is designed for families, friends, and individuals to participate, and participation is possible through on-site registration. The two experiences offered are “Making a Wooden Puzzle of the Gwagnung Yo-gang Flower” and “Exploring the Gwangneung Forest.”
“Making a Wooden Puzzle of the Gwagnung Yo-gang Flower” involves creating a wooden puzzle of the rare Gwagnung Yo-gang flower. Using a wooden puzzle developed and patented by the National Arboretum, participants will learn about the Gwagnung Yo-gang flower through guidance from forest education experts and video materials, and then complete the puzzle themselves. The trial operation was completed in July and August, and during the official operation period, it will be held four times a day (10 a.m., 11 a.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m.) for about 40 minutes each session.
“Exploring the Gwangneung Forest” is an activity where plants are collected in the children’s garden and observed under a microscope. This program, conducted by forest education experts, runs twice a day for 60 minutes at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Those wishing to participate can register on the day via a QR code at the entrance of the children’s garden.
Bae Joon-kyu, Head of the Exhibition and Education Research Department at the National Arboretum, stated, “Through this program, we hope visitors will connect with forest life and create fond memories. We will continue to provide arboretum educational experiences for all visitors in the future.”
