Jongno-gu will hold the ‘Daehakro Culture Night Festival’ on the main street of Daehakro on August 30. The event will start at noon, and approximately 350 meters of the section from Exit 1 of Hyehwa Station to the entrance of Seoul National University Hospital will be transformed into a festival space.
The event area will be divided into five themed zones. Various performances and experiential programs will take place in each zone. Participatory content includes water gun battles, color bomb experiences, highlights of plays and musicals, busking stages, and street karaoke booths.
At the Oasis Stage in front of Marronnier Park, there will be water gun battles, color bomb experiences, and music fountain proposals. Citizens can enjoy the festive atmosphere by shooting water guns and throwing color powder to music. The music fountain proposal is a special stage designed for participants such as couples, friends, and families.
Near Exits 2 and 3 of Hyehwa Station at the Green Stage and the busking stage in front of Exit 1, musical and play highlights featuring six theater companies based in Daehakro will be performed. Street karaoke ‘Voice Daehakro,’ local dance academy performances, and live busking by students majoring in practical music will also take place. There will also be an audience participation performance free zone to enhance the excitement at the scene.
On this day, the main street of Daehakro will be completely closed to vehicles from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Through this event, Jongno-gu aims to establish a summer-themed street festival led by citizens and to create empathy with the younger generation.
Jong Mun-heon, head of Jongno-gu District Office, said, “The car-free street event at the end of August is planned as a time for residents and tourists of all ages to come together under the theme of ‘Culture Night Festival.’ We will continue to do our best to create a vibrant urban cultural space where citizens and local businesses co-exist.”
