Google is actively expanding its artificial intelligence features to support practical everyday tasks beyond just search functions.

On the 16th (local time), Google unveiled new search functions for AI Pro and AI Ultra paying subscribers and introduced an ‘agent-type’ service where AI makes calls and gathers information on behalf of users.

With this update, Google has integrated its latest AI model, ‘Gemini 2.5 Pro’, into the ‘AI Mode’ in search, introducing a ‘Deep Search’ feature that generates analytical reports based on hundreds of websites through automatic in-depth search. Simultaneously, they have started providing ‘AI-based business call functions’ across the United States. AI collects and summarizes prices, available reservation times, and service information from nearby businesses upon a user’s request and delivers it to the user.

‘Gemini 2.5 Pro’ is the AI model Google describes as having the most precise inference capabilities among its models. It excels in complex questions such as mathematics, coding, and advanced inference, generating comprehensive answers that match the context of inquiries while also providing reliable external links.

Users can directly select this model from the AI mode dropdown menu. The basic AI mode quickly responds to everyday questions, while 2.5 Pro is suited for questions requiring high accuracy, such as research or analysis.

This feature is being gradually provided to users participating in AI mode experiments (Labs) among Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers in the US, and is not yet available in Korea or other regions. The launch date for Korean users has not yet been disclosed, but global expansion is expected in the future.

‘Deep Search’ operates based on Gemini 2.5 Pro as a deep search feature. When a user inputs a question, Google AI executes hundreds of searches, analyzes various information sources, and generates a report with references within minutes.

This feature is designed to be usefully applied in life’s major decision-making situations such as academics, job-related activities, hobbies, loan comparison, and home purchasing. This process enables more precise and logical analysis through ‘query fan-out’ and multimodal understanding technology.

The most notable change is the ‘AI-based business call’ feature. When a user searches for “pet groomers near me” and selects “request price check from AI”, Google’s AI calls the business directly to inquire about the information. The collected data is summarized and provided on one screen for comparison across multiple businesses.

All calls clearly state that they are conducted by an automated system at the start, and businesses can adjust their AI call participation settings through their business profiles. This feature was initially trialed under the name ‘Ask For Me’ in early 2025 in some regions, and is now available to all users in the US. Subscribers receive a higher call request limit.

Google explains that this feature expansion signifies a transition from a mere search tool to an ‘AI assistant’ supporting users’ real-life activities. Gemini 2.5 Pro and Deep Search automate high-level information retrieval and analysis, and AI calls have reached a level where they actually perform part of user actions.

Google plans to continue prioritizing the release of the most advanced features to AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers and aims to gradually expand AI features to users worldwide.
