From July to November, the city of Seoul will conduct an event, offering prizes to citizens who apply for both electronic billing and automatic payment of water bills. Starting from July 1 to November 30, 5,000 mobile coffee coupons will be awarded, with 1,000 winners selected each month.

The event targets citizens who newly apply for electronic billing and automatic payment within this period. No separate application process is needed, as participation is automatic upon application. Winners can check the results on the Seoul Arisu Headquarters website, and prizes will be sent to the contact information provided during application.

Applying for electronic billing reduces monthly water bills by 1%. The discount ranges from a minimum of 200 won to a maximum of 1,000 won, and an additional 3,000 won is discounted for the first-time automatic payment application. Paper bills are replaced with text messages or emails, minimizing the risk of loss.

Applications can be made via 120 Dasan Call without an area code, or by calling individual waterworks offices. It’s also possible through the Arisu Cyber Customer Center and Seoul Arisu Headquarters’ KakaoTalk channel via ‘Chatbot Arisu Talk’. Electronic billing can also be applied for using mobile payment apps like Shinhan Card, Kakao Pay, Toss, and Hana Pay.

Seoul City aims to enhance citizen convenience and environmental protection by improving billing methods. Starting July this year, environmentally friendly recycled paper has been introduced for paper bills, and the size has been reduced. The expansion of electronic billing aims to reduce over 2.8 million of the approximately 12 million paper bills annually.

Lee Hoi-seung, head of the Seoul Arisu Headquarters, said, “Last year’s event resulted in about 70,000 electronic billing applications. We hope many citizens will participate, as electronic billing is a convenient and eco-friendly method.”
