From July 7 to November 30, applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis with an expanded eligibility due to budget recovery.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that they will issue additional ‘Youth Culture Art Passes’ from July 7 to November 30. This targets youths born in 2006 who are residents of South Korea with Korean nationality. Applications can be submitted through the official website, and registration is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis within the budget limits per 17 regions.

This additional issuance utilizes the budget recovered from unused points of the recipients of the first half. Those who have already obtained the pass in the first half cannot reapply.

The Youth Culture Art Pass is a program that provides financial support for performances and exhibitions to 19-year-olds. A maximum of 150,000 won is provided in points, which can be used for booking musicals, classical concerts, and exhibitions through Interpark’s ‘Nol Ticket’ and YES24. The points must be used by December 31 of this year, after which they will automatically expire.

To expand the benefits of the Culture Art Pass and offer more cultural enjoyment opportunities, the Ministry of Culture is also running discounted performances in collaboration with national art organizations, local governments, and private institutions. Discounted performances available to pass holders include 30-50% off the National Ballet’s ‘The Little Mermaid’, ‘Giselle’, ‘The Nutcracker’, and performances by the National Opera Company, the National Jeongdong Theater, and the National Contemporary Dance Company. Regional groups like the Daegu Opera House, Seongnam Cultural Foundation, and Gwangju Cultural Foundation also participate.

During the first issue conducted from March to May this year, approximately 120,000 applications were received with a 76.9% issuance rate. A user survey at the end of June showed that 98.4% of respondents believed the Culture Art Pass would benefit their cultural life.

Meanwhile, various events for users are being held. Until July 13, the ‘First Booking Event’ targets 100 youths who booked performances or exhibitions for the first time with the ‘Youth Culture Art Pass’, and until July 16, an ‘Online Promotion Supporter Recruitment Event’ is ongoing. Supporters can share their experiences using the Culture Art Pass online and participate in various activities like backstage tours.

Lee Jeong-woo, Director of Culture and Arts Policy at the Ministry of Culture, stated, “With the additional issuance of the ‘Youth Culture Art Pass’, we hope to foster a daily enjoyment of culture and bring vibrancy to performance and exhibition venues.” He added, “The Ministry of Culture will continue to strive to expand opportunities for cultural enjoyment by reflecting youth demand in the future.”
