The Seoul city government announced that to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the opening of Seoul Forest, a cultural event for citizens, ‘The Garden of Artful Attraction’, will be held at the outdoor stage of Seoul Forest on June 21.
‘The Garden of Artful Attraction’ is a park program that combines the characteristics of each park in Seoul with art content to create a leisure culture. It is held every month in various parks across Seoul, and in June, the event will take place in Seoul Forest, blending with the early summer vibe.
At 1 PM on the event day, a talk concert entitled ‘Connected Youth in the Garden, Planting Seoul’s Future’ will be held with participants from the Youth Gardening Club and experts. Participants include Jeong Eun Jang, director of Hwamokto Horticultural Therapy Institute, designer Arim Kwon from A-garden Company, and young gardeners Minji Lee and Juhye Lee. They will share the value of gardening and the changes urban gardens have brought to daily life.
Since 2024, Seoul City has been operating the ‘Youth Gardening Club’, which combines urban garden creation with garden education. The program, which began last year on Gyeongui Line Forest Road, has been expanded this year to Boramae Park and the venue for the Seoul International Garden Expo.
At 2 PM, a classical music concert titled ‘Garden with Music’ by the ‘About String Ensemble’ will follow. All citizens are welcome to participate without prior registration. The performance will feature classical masterpieces such as Vivaldi’s La Folia, Haydn’s Joke, Bach’s Air on the G String, and Handel’s Lascia ch’io pianga. The ensemble, consisting of violin, viola, cello, and contrabass, will present a profound stage in the form of a string quartet and orchestra.
Through this event, the Seoul city government aims to offer a unique citizen experience where garden culture and art intertwine, and to present the direction for the garden city of Seoul. Soo-yeon Lee, Director of the Garden City Bureau, expressed hope that all citizens will enjoy garden culture in their daily lives through this harmonious event of gardens and art.
