LG CNS has entered the local public market by winning smart city infrastructure projects in New York City, USA, and Hogansville, Georgia.

The New York City Economic Development Corporation has signed a pilot contract with LG CNS to establish an electric vehicle charging station and management system. The target location is the Brooklyn Army Terminal. This area serves as a testing ground for companies approaching commercialization of new technologies.

Along with the installation of charging stations, an app and management system that can check the charging status in real-time will be operated. The user app provides functions such as booking a charging station and checking for available spaces.

The management system applies the proprietary smart city platform ‘Cityhub Building’. This utilizes IoT technology to remotely control sensors and collect data such as power usage in real-time. It also allows for the operation of digital content via digital signage within the building.

In the future, there are plans to supply Level 3 ultra-fast chargers and Energy Storage Systems (ESS) in New York City. This project is being pursued as part of New York City’s Green Economy Action Plan.

Meanwhile, LG CNS has signed a contract with the city of Hogansville, Georgia, for the installation of smart street lights and a management system. The smart street lights will include features such as lighting control, public Wi-Fi, AI CCTV, and environmental sensors.

The street lights installed in the Hogansville city center and park will collect city data and manage traffic and safety conditions in real-time. The management system will also be integrated and operated based on the ‘Cityhub Building’ platform.

Electric vehicle chargers, digital signage, and emergency call buttons will also be installed. The emergency call function is linked to relevant institutions such as the police to respond to urgent situations.

LG CNS plans to expand its projects from Hogansville to nearby cities in Georgia, including LaGrange and West Point.

LG CNS CEO Hyun Shin-kyun stated, “The smart city infrastructure construction project in the U.S. is a good example of LG CNS’s DX capabilities and know-how being recognized in the global market.” He added, “We will lead the expansion of eco-friendly smart city infrastructure in the U.S. and the creation of a sustainable future.”
