Samsung Electronics has maintained its position as the world’s number one in the gaming monitor market for six consecutive years.
According to the market research firm IDC, Samsung Electronics recorded a 21.0% market share by value in the gaming monitor market with a refresh rate of over 144Hz in 2024. It has been number one for six consecutive years since 2019.
In particular, it achieved a record-high performance in the North American market in 2024 with a market share of 27.5%. At the end of March, it held the ‘eXperience 2025’ event in Fairmont Austin, Texas, inviting major North American buyers and showcasing a new line-up of gaming monitors, including Odyssey 3D, Odyssey OLED G8, and Odyssey G9.
Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics also maintained its leadership in the OLED monitor market. In 2024, it recorded a 34.6% market share by value, maintaining the top spot for two consecutive years. The shipment volume of OLED monitors last year was 1.24 million units, a 16-fold increase from the previous year.
To strengthen its OLED line-up, Samsung Electronics introduced the new Odyssey OLED G8 models in 27-inch and 32-inch sizes. The 27-inch model supports 166PPI (pixels per inch) and features ‘OLED Glare Free’ technology to reduce light reflection and enhance immersion.
Jung-hoon, the vice president of Samsung Electronics’ video display business division, stated, “We have expanded consumer choices by releasing various new products this year,” and “We will offer products that provide optimal immersion in any gaming environment.”
