Seoul’s Nowon District is introducing an ‘Integrated Management Platform for Electric Vehicle Charging Stations’ to enhance safety and administrative efficiency in the management of charging facilities. The district plans to accelerate digital administrative transformation for systematic management in response to the increase in charging stations.
This platform introduction comes in response to a surge in the number of charging facilities following the amendment of the ‘Act on the Promotion of Development and Distribution of Environmentally Friendly Automobiles’, highlighting the need for safe and efficient management. The district will collaborate with the electric vehicle charging solution company, Emotion Place Co., Ltd., to begin full-scale operations in April.
The system allows real-time monitoring of charger status by building, fire prevention facilities, and electric vehicle distribution status. It has also established a data-based response system that includes information on the location and installation type (above-ground or underground) of charging stations and safety facilities, addressing residents’ concerns about fire hazards.
Key features include the management of mandatory charging station installations and the reception of charging station status surveys. By fully digitalizing manual administration through the platform, it is expected to save time and costs.
Additionally, the platform will provide real-time map-based information on electric vehicle charging facilities in connection with the district office website. An online charging consulting service for building managers will also be operated to support the compliance of legal obligations in residential complexes and commercial facilities.
In October 2023, Nowon District was designated as the only ‘Net-Zero City’ in the metropolitan area by the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport. On the 9th, it joined international collaborations by becoming a member of the ‘RE100 City Network’ and ‘GCoM’.
Oh Seung-rok, the Mayor of Nowon District, stated, “Expanding the charging infrastructure and establishing a safety management system is a key task for leading carbon-neutral cities. We aim to build a trustworthy, eco-friendly city through digital administrative transformation.”
