LG Household & Health Care has officially launched the ‘Green Value YOUTH’ program, an eco-friendly initiative with young climate activists.

At the initiation ceremony held on April 11 in Seocho-gu, Seoul, the company embarked on its 2025 operations with 101 young climate activists. Now in its 11th year, the program is co-sponsored by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the Ministry of Environment, and EcoMom Korea.

‘Green Value YOUTH’ aims to spread eco-friendly values across society through youth-led climate response projects. This year, its international scope is enhanced with the participation of overseas Korean youth and international students residing in Korea from countries such as the UK, France, and Taiwan.

The selected youth form 20 teams to conduct climate crisis response projects based on university campuses and communities. The program ensures ongoing and impactful results with a tailored mentoring system.

The mentors include Ji-Won Kim, an investment evaluation officer at D3 Jubilee Partners; Tae-Woo Kim, a consulting partner at LG CNS; Jun-Seok Moon, CEO of Equal Table; and Da-Kyung Hong, CEO of Earth Learning. Each team is coached by a dedicated mentor to enhance the planning and execution of the projects.

Additionally, efforts will be concentrated on finding solutions to waste issues by participating in UNEP’s global campaign ‘Tide Turner Plastic Challenge’ to reduce single-use plastics.

Since 2014, LG Household & Health Care has been nurturing youth eco-friendly leaders under the title ‘Global Eco Leader,’ and expanded the program to ‘Green Value YOUTH’ in 2022.

Nam-Soo Choi, executive director of the ESG & External Cooperation Division, stated, “Youth-led climate activities are the driving force for the company’s ESG practices and the realization of a sustainable society,” adding, “We will use this opportunity to grow together with the youth, based on eco-friendly values.”
