Meta has newly recruited two experts in the fields of fintech and public policy to its board of directors to enhance its global strategy. The company announced that from April 15, Patrick Collison, CEO of Stripe, and Dina Powell McCormick, a former senior official in the U.S. White House and current bank executive, have been appointed as directors.

Patrick Collison is the co-founder and CEO of the global fintech company Stripe, and is expected to contribute to Meta’s business growth strategy based on his deep understanding of the digital economy and programmable financial services. Collison has experience working with Meta’s advisory group in the past and is expected to play a key role in expanding enterprise support services through WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook.

Dina Powell McCormick has held senior positions at Goldman Sachs for 16 years and served as a national security deputy adviser in the Trump administration and assistant secretary of state during the Bush administration. She currently serves as the vice chair and global client service president at BDT & MSD Partners. Her extensive career spanning the private and public sectors is evaluated to make substantial contributions to Meta’s policy response capabilities and global corporate strategy enhancement.

With this appointment, Meta’s board of directors expands to a total of 15 members. Mark Zuckerberg, Meta CEO, welcomed their joining, stating, “Patrick and Dina will provide critical insights into Meta’s growth vision based on their rich experience supporting businesses and entrepreneurs.”

This board expansion is noteworthy as it takes place amid major policy shifts within Meta, such as the recent termination of some fact-checking programs and diversity initiatives in the U.S. In January, UFC CEO Dana White also joined the board.

This recent personnel move is interpreted as part of Meta’s efforts to enhance connectivity with small and medium-sized enterprises and entrepreneurs worldwide and accelerate its strategy to expand economic opportunities through its platform.
