The science culture concert that blends science and art will be held at the National Gwacheon Science Museum’s planetarium from April 19 until the end of the year, with a total of six performances.
The dome performance concert uses a hemispherical dome screen with a diameter of 25 meters, the largest in the country, to provide an immersive experience for the audience. It is co-planned by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Gwacheon Science Museum and is operated annually in conjunction with important astronomical events, offering a combination of lectures and performances.
The 2025 concert will consist of four talk concerts focused on lectures and two dome concerts focused on performances. The first talk concert will take place on April 19 to celebrate Science Day with the theme of ‘Space Life Forms,’ featuring Dr. Hong Seong-wook of the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute and astronomer and SF writer Ha Do-yeon. On June 29, an event will highlight the asteroid collision threat ‘2024 YR4,’ and on July 20, the achievements of Korea’s lunar exploration will be introduced. On October 4, there will be a lecture centered on space treaties often depicted in mainstream media.
The dome concerts will be held on May 5, Children’s Day, and December 20, at the year’s end. These are family-oriented performances combining magic and music and will include a celestial observation program scheduled in the evening.
Reservations can be made through the National Gwacheon Science Museum’s website, with the first event open for registration starting April 9 at 10 a.m.
