Seoul’s Gangnam-gu has adorned the Yangjaecheon Cherry Blossom Path with artworks and landscape lighting to offer citizens a new type of urban cultural walkway.

Starting April 3, Gangnam-gu is operating art installations and night lighting at the northern section of Yangjaecheon. This project was planned to transform the area, previously focused only on cherry blossom season, into a space for emotional experiences available all year round.

Two artworks under the theme ‘The glistening light on the dew…’ have been installed. The nets and ornaments hanging on tree branches sparkle in the sunlight during the day and merge with the lights at night to evoke the effect of constellations.

Additionally, 96 new landscape lights have been installed along the approximately 330-meter section from Millmiri Bridge to Yeongdong 3 Bridge. The lights brightly illuminate the cherry blossoms, providing a walking environment suitable for night strolls.

Moreover, about 50 flower pots have been arranged on the Millmiri Bridge railing, and a spring flower bed is set up on the bridge, creating a three-dimensional landscape in harmony with the cherry blossoms.

Gangnam-gu plans to develop the Yangjaecheon area into a themed space reflecting seasonal features, offering citizens a leisure space they can visit anytime. Mayor Cho Sang-myung of Gangnam-gu said, “The Yangjaecheon Cherry Blossom Path, where art and lighting blend harmoniously, will become an even more special spring location.”
