Seoul will transform the Hangang Park into a massive outdoor sculpture exhibition space starting in April. This cycle exhibition, themed ‘Blossoming with Hangang Sculpture’, is designed to allow citizens to encounter art in everyday life within urban parks.
Sixty emerging artists, reflecting the senses of modern sculpture, will participate in this exhibition. A total of 300 sculptures will be installed sequentially in 10 of the Hangang Parks, excluding Ttukseom. Each park will display 30 works per exhibition cycle, providing visitors with a new cultural experience through artworks that blend with the natural environment.
The first exhibition will be held from April 1 to May 30 near the first parking lot walkway of Banpo Hangang Park, the family picnic area of Gangseo Hangang Park, and inside the Seoul Battleship Park in Mangwon Hangang Park. This will be followed by exhibitions from June 3 to July 31 at Yeouido, Jamsil, and Nanji Hangang Parks; from August 5 to September 29 at Jamwon and Gwangnaru Hangang Parks; and finally from September 30 to November 28 at Yanghwa and Ichon Hangang Parks.

Notable works in the exhibition include ‘Picnic’ by Kim Raehwan, ‘Namnam Bungnyeo’ by Kim Wonkeun, ‘Promise of Hope’ by Choi Seungah, ‘Your Comfort’ by Oh Nuri, ‘Gaia’s Umbilical Cord’ by Yang Jinok, ‘Dire Merci Ι’ by Song Hyunjin, ‘Multi-cohesion’ by Kim Jaegak, ‘Flying Horse’ by Oh Donghoon, ‘DREAM’ by Kim Heeyong, and ‘Accumulated Petals’ by Nam Jihyung. These works explore themes such as love, communication, life, and emotions expressed through modern sculptural language.
Through this outdoor exhibition, Seoul aims to create an environment where people can experience art not in museums but in everyday spaces and enhance the cultural value of parks as public spaces.
Park Jinyoung, head of the future Hangang headquarters in Seoul, stated, “Prepared to enjoy both nature and art in Hangang Park, we hope citizens will find rest and leisure in the city while appreciating the sculptures.”
