The Korea Institute of Legislative Studies and ESG solution company i-ESG announced on the 27th (Thursday) that they have successfully completed the final report seminar for the ESG diagnostic and evaluation indicators development project aimed at Asian export SMEs.
This project, which began in 2022 based on foundational research, aims to support companies that find it challenging to respond independently to ESG regulations. It utilizes AI technology to analyze the status of each company and provide tailored improvement feedback. During the report session, analysis results based on data collected up to 2024 and the basic plan for an AI-based ESG diagnostic system were revealed.
The Korea Institute of Legislative Studies and i-ESG stated their plan to finalize ESG evaluation indicators for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) based on expert consultations and to open an online diagnostic platform. The platform will enable rapid ESG diagnosis and improvement, supporting the internalization of ESG within companies.
Kim Jong-woong, CEO of i-ESG, said, “Asian companies’ response to strengthening ESG regulations centered on the EU is insufficient,” adding, “The platform will help to enhance corporate competitiveness.” Choi Jung-yoon, head of the ESG Research Unit at the Economic and Humanities Research Council, explained, “The ESG disclosure and supply chain due diligence systems burden companies,” and noted that this project provided a practical solution by combining legislative research with AI technology.
The final report meeting was attended by government agencies, academia, and international organization representatives who discussed the response measures to ESG regulations and the potential use of AI technology. Participants anticipated that this platform, as an ESG support initiative with the nature of a public good, could also be utilized in policy formulation.
i-ESG specializes in digital ESG solutions, offering integrated functions for ESG diagnosis, reporting, and supply chain management through AI-based data analysis technology. The Korea Institute of Legislative Studies is a national research institution under the Economic and Humanities Research Council that conducts over 300 legislative studies annually.
