Gyeonggi Province is recruiting participants for the youth camp, “Dokdo Ambassador,” to establish a correct historical awareness of Dokdo and to enhance territorial sovereignty consciousness in celebration of the 80th anniversary of liberation.
This camp allows participating youth to visit Ulleungdo and Dokdo to experience history, culture, and the environment, and to conduct promotional activities through the Dokdo preservation performance. Participants will receive historical education related to Dokdo through expert lectures and will create promotional videos as team projects.
The camp will be held a total of four times, selecting 55 participants from each region, totaling 220 participants. The schedules are as follows: the southern region from June 2 to 5, the eastern region from June 17 to 20, the northern region from September 2 to 5, and the western region from September 22 to 25. Departure points are Suwon, Gwangju, Uijeongbu, and Gwangmyeong respectively.
Applicants must be young people born between 2007 and 2012 who reside in Gyeonggi Province or are enrolled in middle or high schools within the province. Applications must be submitted by April 5th along with an application form, self-introduction letter, and activity proposal to the Gyeonggi Province Youth Activity Promotion Center’s email.
Participants will be selected through document and interview screenings held in April and July. Children of national merit recipients and multicultural youth will be given priority within 10% of the total selection quota.
Gyeonggi Province’s Director of Future Lifelong Education Bureau, Kang Hyun-seok, stated, “This camp will be a meaningful opportunity for youth to directly experience Dokdo and nurture their historical perspectives and sovereignty consciousness,” and urged a lot of interest and participation.
