Non-profit corporation Root Impact and Korea University’s Sustainability Institute announced on the 19th that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to cultivate talents in social innovation.

Through this agreement, the two institutions plan to strengthen social innovation education programs and expand cooperation to foster young changemakers.

The two institutions are co-operating the ‘2025 Korea University Changemakers’ program, which has been running since March 14. This program involves Korea University students directly investigating societal and environmental issues and exploring solutions in collaboration with the local community. Through this, students perform community service activities and experience creating sustainable change.

The institutions plan to jointly plan lectures and mentoring for Changemakers participants and proceed with the education program. Additionally, they intend to jointly develop curriculum for social innovation education to provide more structured educational opportunities to students.

CEO Huh Jae-hyung of Root Impact said, “We look forward to collaborating with Korea University’s Sustainability Institute, which has been leading the way in nurturing talents for a sustainable society,” and added, “Based on our experience of enhancing young people’s social innovation capabilities over the past decade, we will cultivate more young talents together with Korea University.”

Director Shin Jae-hyuk of Korea University’s Sustainability Institute remarked, “It is meaningful to cooperate with Root Impact, which has played an important role in the field of social innovation,” and pledged, “Through this agreement, we will support young people to grow as changemakers who lead the resolution of domestic and international social issues.”

Root Impact plans to continue expanding cooperation with major universities in Korea, following the MOU with the Hanyang University Global Innovation Center last May and this recent agreement with Korea University’s Sustainability Institute.
