LG Uplus subsidiary Medialogue (CEO Sangheon Lee) is taking a step forward to protect the environment, recycle resources, and realize social value. The company, which operates the used phone purchase platform ‘Sello’, announced on the 4th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Goodwill Store to expand the collection of used phones.

Through this agreement, Medialogue and Goodwill Store aim to collect discarded phones from homes for recycling, contributing to the reduction of electronic waste and achieving the social goal of creating jobs for people with disabilities.

The signing ceremony was held on the 3rd at Goodwill Store Miral Seongbuk branch located in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul. Attendees included Keyoung Kim, head of Sello Business at Medialogue, and Sangwook Han, head of Goodwill Division at Miral Welfare Foundation, among other officials from both organizations.

Through this agreement, Sello will place dedicated envelopes for used phone returns at all 35 Goodwill Store shops and donation centers nationwide starting March 4th. Customers visiting the stores can easily return their used phones with these envelopes, and those who cannot visit the stores can participate by receiving envelopes during Goodwill Store’s process of collecting second-hand items.

Sello provides a free collection service when customers apply for the sale of used phones from their homes. The platform employs professional inspectors to meticulously determine the grades and offer reasonable prices. By introducing the B+ grading system, it provides a more precise value assessment than the existing purchase methods, enhancing customer trust.

Medialogue’s Sello Business Manager Kiyoung Kim said, “We expect to increase the volume of used phone purchases and have a positive effect by creating jobs for people with disabilities through our partnership with Goodwill Store,” adding, “Starting with this collaboration, we will further expand the used phone collection network into various fields.”

Miral Welfare Foundation’s Goodwill Division Head Sangwook Han commented, “We expect this agreement will contribute not only to environmental protection and resource recycling but also to creating social jobs,” adding, “We will continue to collaborate with various companies to expand social value.”

Through this agreement, Medialogue and Goodwill Store aim to collect thousands of used phones annually, and by doing so, they plan to reduce electronic waste and establish a sustainable circular economy model.
