The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on February 20 that from February 20 to March 26, they will be conducting the ‘2025 First Half-Year Digital Service Opening Proposal Project’. The core of this project is to provide services that were previously available only on public websites or apps to private companies, enabling usage on apps frequently used by the public.

Among the services to be opened are 27 types of public services with high frequency of use by the public. These include the following to be linked with private apps: ▲Housing Subscription Services (Subscription Home·LH Subscription Plus) ▲Non-face-to-face Eligibility Verification Service ▲Driver’s License Test Registration ▲Public Sports Facility Reservations ▲Childcare Services.
Currently, for housing subscriptions, one has to visit LH Subscription Plus or Subscription Home individually, but once opened, subscription information will be easily accessible and applicable from private apps. Additionally, inconveniences such as national merit recipients or disabled persons needing to present ID cards for fee discounts at parking lots, cinemas, and amusement parks are expected to be resolved. It is being improved so that eligibility can be confirmed and discount benefits received easily through private apps in the future.
In addition, driver’s license test registration, public sports facility reservations, local currency usage, and consumer consultation applications are expected to significantly improve convenience as they are closely related to the public’s daily life.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety plans to hold a briefing session on February 28 for companies wishing to participate, and to select private collaborators through a public offering. The selected companies will then collaborate with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and related agencies to develop APIs (Application Program Interfaces) and proceed with integration procedures. Consequently, it is anticipated that these public services will be available on private apps starting from the end of 2025.
Lee Yong-seok, Director of the Digital Government Innovation Office at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, said, “By providing public services through private apps frequently used by the public, we aim to enhance the convenience and accessibility of service usage,” and added, “This project is expected to be an innovative example of collaboration between the public and private sectors.”
The list of services to be opened and the application method for the call can be checked on the Ministry of the Interior and Safety website (www.mois.go.kr).
