The Ministry of Employment and Labor is strengthening reemployment support for middle-aged workers in the IT industry in cooperation with Naver. Kim Min-seok, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Employment and Labor, signed a business agreement for specialized reemployment support in the IT industry on the 18th at Naver’s headquarters in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province.
The IT industry is characterized by rapid technological changes and frequent job transitions, making systematic reemployment training essential. Accordingly, Naver plans to develop customized education and training programs for middle-aged workers using its in-house expertise and educational resources.

The curriculum will be tailored according to the desired positions of workers, such as employment in development roles, entrepreneurship, or turning into a consultant, and will include not only skill enhancement courses but also employment connection programs. The government plans to support the educational operation costs for companies running customized reemployment training and offer hiring incentives for companies that recruit program graduates.
In addition, the government will establish a job support system by lifecycle so that middle-aged workers can continue to work. Support for career redesign will be provided from the 40s to help prepare for a second career life, while the 50s will be assisted in obtaining promising qualifications and transitioning careers. The government also intends to institutionalize continuous employment to enable stable work even after 60.
Vice Minister Kim Min-seok emphasized that supporting middle-aged workers to work as much as they want is crucial for both improving individual quality of life and revitalizing the national economy. The government will work with companies to expand sustainable reemployment support models.
This agreement is expected to further expand the utilization of middle-aged talent in the IT industry.
